Opposition grows to 21 storey tower at Tottenham Lock.

Opposition is building to the proposed 21 storey towers at Hale Wharf, the riverside site at Tottenham Hale, proposed by Muse developers, the development partner of the Canal and River Trust which owns the site.150 objections have now been submitted, one of the latest being from London’s deputy mayor and local London Assembly member Joanne McCartney. Haringey Climate Forum community grants programme 2016-17

The 40:20 Haringey Climate Forum has launched its community grants programme for 2016-17.The programme aims to encourage community initiatives to cut carbon emissions, for example through energy efficiency, renewable energy, reducing motor traffic or reducing waste.Last year grants were awarded to the Edible Landscapes local food growing project; and to the JAN Trust to educate BAME women in home energy efficiency. The 2016 annual meeting of Haringey Climate Forum will be on Monday 20 June at 7pm at Haringey Civic Centre. The Forum exists to promote policies and actions that will cut emissions of greenhouse gases, and help adaptation to climate change. In the last year we have held a number of meetings to hold major players to account on their carbon emissions – including the Council, housing associations, and Tottenham Hotspurs. Haringey takes first steps to divest from fossil fuels

Spurs planning application fails on climate grounds

Tottenham’s local Friends of the Earth group is calling on the Council’s planning committee to get tough with Spurs over their new stadium plans. 40:20 Haringey Climate Forum 2016 community grant programme

We welcome bids up to £3,000 to a grants fund totalling £6,000. The deciding panel will allocate the available grant in the best way possible. The closing date is 9am on Tuesday 5th January. We will make decisions within a week. The bids must to be for projects that will reduce carbon, in eg transport, energy efficiency, renewable energy, reuse and recycling, local food growing.
